About Us

For love of family and farming

Geist Farm is a small-scale family farm in the heart of the Palouse with incredible views of the rolling hills. Located right between the towns of Garfield and Palouse, we are closely tied to both towns. In 2018, we moved to Washington from Konstanz, Germany, seizing an opportunity to farm the family land. We tend a large market garden and orchard, keep chickens and bees, raise pigs, put up hay, and grow legumes and cereal crops. Our main crops are wheat, garbanzos, lentils, and peas.

Kriebel Farm is recognized as a Whitman County Century Farm, which means the farm has been owned continuously by our family for over 100 years. We are a multi-generational farm and are grateful to be here implementing our ideas and dreams. Our grandparents, Mahlon and Monika Kriebel, have been supportive of our effort to grow, build and develop the family land into a working farm.

Our mission is deeply rooted in the idea of land stewardship and the collaboration with other homesteaders. We welcome all who want to participate in a healthier and more sustainable food system. We hope to connect local producers and consumers of naturally and sustainably grown and produced foods.

Farmers Nikolas and Katarina Geist with kids, Louisa, Amelia, and Leander. Our family has grown since this picture was taken, and now we have baby Klara as well. Dealing with the struggles and worries of farming is hard, but we feel living off the land is a wholesome and gratifying way of life. We’re blessed to be part of this world and we care to make it a better place for ourselves, our kids, and our community.
